Privacy Policy for MTouchpad
Short version: MTouchpad does not collect, store, or share any personal data. It has no internet access, no analytics, no ads, and no accounts. Everything it does happens on your device and over your own Bluetooth connection.
What the app does
MTouchpad turns your Android phone into a wireless touchpad for a computer. It presents itself to your computer as a standard Bluetooth input device (HID), and sends the cursor movements, clicks, and scroll gestures you make on the phone's screen directly to the computer you have paired with.
Information we collect
None. MTouchpad does not collect, transmit, or store any personal or sensitive user data. Specifically, the app does not collect:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any account information
- Location data
- Contacts, photos, files, messages, or calendar data
- Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or diagnostic telemetry
The app does not request the INTERNET permission, so it is technically
incapable of sending anything off your device to us or to anyone else. You can confirm
this yourself: the app's complete permission list is shown on its Google Play store page,
and on your phone under Settings → Apps → MTouchpad → Permissions.
Data stored on your device
MTouchpad does not create accounts, databases, or saved files. Settings such as cursor sensitivity apply to the current session only. Your Bluetooth pairing with the computer is managed by Android itself, not by this app, and is removed when you unpair the devices in your phone's Bluetooth settings.
Permissions and why they are needed
- Bluetooth (connect & scan) — required to find nearby computers, pair with them, and send touchpad input. This is the app's core function.
- Location (Android 11 and older only) — older versions of Android required apps to hold the location permission in order to scan for Bluetooth devices at all. MTouchpad uses it solely to discover Bluetooth devices. It never requests, reads, or derives your geographic location, and this permission is not requested at all on Android 12 and newer.
Bluetooth data is exchanged only between your phone and the computer you choose to connect to. It is not routed through any server.
Sharing with third parties
Because no data is collected, no data is sold, shared, or disclosed to third parties. MTouchpad contains no advertising networks, no analytics services, and no third-party tracking libraries of any kind.
Children's privacy
MTouchpad is safe for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the app collects no data at all, it collects none from children.
Distribution
MTouchpad is distributed through Google Play. Google may collect its own information when you download or update the app, governed by the Google Privacy Policy. That collection is outside our control and is not something MTouchpad requests or receives.
Changes to this policy
If the app's behaviour ever changes in a way that affects privacy, this policy will be updated and the effective date above revised. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
